Corona
Guidelines for reopening

Corona.

The Corona pandemic hit the entire event industry hard. Within a very short time, all public events were cancelled and a vital industry fell into agony.

For more than two years, each theatre has been struggling individually with the constantly changing regulations and has been trying - in cooperation with regulatory authorities and health authorities from outside the industry - to work out responsible and feasible concepts to get the urgently needed cultural life back on its feet as soon as possible.

Constantly changing requirements that have to be implemented within a very short time cost organisers and local authorities a lot of nerves.

Even if all guidelines and regulations are relaxed at the moment, we will have to deal with concepts again next autumn at the latest.

At the beginning of the pandemic, we were all shocked by the studies that demanded a distance of 6 metres for singers and 2 to 3 metres for orchestra musicians. In the meantime, a lived pragmatism has prevailed, which of course is also paired with a good portion of "will-be-safe".

In addition, all those responsible despair of the changing requirements for vaccination protection and the implementation of 2G / 2G+ / 3G / 3G+ also for the employees on and off the stage.

This should and must be put on a foundation that offers all participants practicable possibilities to be able to act on stage again without endangering their health.

What is planned?

The agency woerlpool receives funding from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology within the framework of the IGP - Programme (Innovation Programme for Business Models and Pioneer Solutions) to conduct a study in 2022 with the following steps:

  1. At the moment, a survey is being carried out among theatres and cultural centres throughout Germany in order to find out the status quo on the one hand, and at the same time to pick up good and innovative ideas and try to make them generally applicable.
  2. In 2022, the results and findings will be published and an attempt will be made to create uniform rules - which are indispensable, especially for guest performances and touring theatres.
  3. Current developments and changing requirements are to be taken into account so that, ideally, the theatres have a handle and a guideline that will help them to manage the reopening in a hopefully stable phase, also for their employees - ensemble and guests - in a way that is safe for their health.
  4. In order to be able to carry out a survey that is as representative as possible, however, we need the help of as many theatres as possible, because only active participation by the theatres and cultural centres will help everyone in the end.
  5. The support costs participating theatres nothing, except the time to conscientiously fill out this questionnaire and additionally agree to a telephone interview / video conference.
  6. The questionnaire is currently still being evaluated, if you are also interested in participating in this research project, please get in touch.
  7. Likewise, an exchange would also be desirable, e.g. to consider forgotten questions and points.
