Sustainability in the cultural sector /
Green Events

Sustainability.

Sustainability is on everyone's lips at the moment. Not only since the alarming climate reports - late enough - action is demanded at all levels. The implementation of the Paris climate goals is becoming a task for all of us, not in the next few years or decades, but right now.

The topic of sustainability and ecological footprint is the burning issue of the next few years for every cultural institution that also sees itself as socially relevant and also sees its cultural mission as a social pioneer.

In this context, many theaters lack time and personnel resources.

We develop individual sustainability concepts that are specifically geared to cultural institutions and take into account the special situation, but also the inspiring appeal of theaters.

Qualifications

In December 2021, I completed training as a climate protection officer / climate protection manager (Umweltinstitut Offenbach).

I was appointed as independent European expert to make the Creative Europe Programme 2021 - 2027 greener for the EU.
Together with high-level colleagues, we advise the EU on the further development of the Creative Europe Programme and want to set standards for sustainable cultural funding.

Since the beginning of 2022, woerlpool has been a founding member of the Unternehmensnetzwerk Klimaschutz (Climate Protection Business Network) of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).

You don't know where to start, the topic seems too complex ?

I record the

  • Actual - state
    What has already been done
  • and successfully implemented ?

and discuss with you the

  • Target - state
what are your goals, where do you want to go and how do you want your commitment to be perceived?

Let us create an individual initial analysis for you free of charge:

What happens during the free initial analysis?

Every theater is different and has specific challenges.

I want to get to know you so that I can then decide how best to proceed. In turn, you will get to know me and my approach.

After that, you decide if you want to go down this way with me.

How does the initial analysis work?

First, I need to know what you want. Where are you and where do you want to go ?

Do you want a comprehensive inventory with concrete proposals for long-term implementation or do you first want to familiarize your team with the topic and motivate them ?

I will get an overview with all the information you can give me and present you with an initial analysis, which we can also discuss in a telephone appointment.

Afterwards I will give you an view ahead, how you can improve your environmental performance.

What does a cooperation with woerlpool cost?

I can only estimate this after an initial analysis and the resulting tasks.

I can analyze your house in an on-site appointment and motivate your employees and tune them to go this way together.

But I can also extensively analyze the actual state and make suggestions for improvement, including the analysis of possible further public funding, because the cultural budgets should not be used for this.

What do I need for a cooperation ?

- the will as a client, together with those involved, to really change something.

- the openness to think also unorthodox solutions and to discuss new ways.

- the necessary profound information about my house / theater, my audience and my external staff and guests.

What do I get in return?

You will receive a comprehensive analysis and suggestions for change, which I will also accompany - by arrangement. If you wish, you will also receive a mission statement that is specifically oriented to your needs.

You get the prospect to be prepared for the social change caused by climate change and also to show your team, your audience and your community that you have recognized the signs of the times.

But: "Greenwashing" is not possible with me. I won't put a green cloak around your neck to make you look good. You have to want the change.

The image enhancement will then come by itself.

Publikations

The cultural sector has not yet been at the center of debates on climate pollution and CO2 emissions.

The February 2021 issue of KULTURMANAGEMENT NETWORK therefore takes a look at the sector's ecological footprint and the opportunities it offers for reducing it.
